April Message From the Chair of the New Lawyer Division

Greetings NLD,

We are one year and one month into this crazy COVID-19 shutdown, and finally, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel! While we await further reopenings and in-person events, I hope you are all finding ways to connect and will continue to join us for our virtual events.

Sign up now to reserve your spot at NLD’s upcoming Cinco de Mayo Cooking Celebration on May 4, where we will demonstrate how to make cheese dip, cocktails, and mocktails. And if you missed our last event, not to worry! You can read the recap of our CLE seminar on social media and the First Amendment, co-hosted by the Government Law Section, in this month’s For the Record

This month’s NLD Member Spotlight features an attorney member who has autism and whose advocacy of others with special needs epitomizes the spirit of Autism Awareness Month, which is in April. Also be sure to read our Tips from the Bar column featuring the incoming president of Lawyers Club of San Diego, an organization dedicated to advancing the status of women in the law and society.

It is our goal to provide truly meaningful programming, whether social, educational, community driven, or otherwise. We want to do whatever we can to support you in finding success in your legal careers. To that end, I welcome you to reach out to me personally, or anyone on the executive committee, if you have ideas or suggestions for things you would like to see from NLD.

We hope that you will continue to join us and be sure to look out for future emails with events, programming, and our monthly publication, For the Record.

Thank you for reading and I hope to see you at our next event!

Sincerely,
Stephanie Atkinson
