Message from the Chair of the New Lawyer Division

Hi NLDers, I hope you all are still safe, healthy, and remembered to send your mom flowers and Zoom with her on Mother’s Day. On a personal note, it was my first Mother’s Day as a member of the “mom club” this year.  Although I couldn’t spend it the way I wanted to with my mom, my husband made me the most delicious French toast I’ve ever had in my life. So, overall, not so bad for a quarantined holiday.

Speaking of food, thank you to everyone who attended our May 15 (or Quince de Mayo) Chip Dippin’ and Margarita Sippin’ Zoom Meetup. Kevin Hambly, our For the Record Editor-in-Chief, led the night with a delicious guacamole and margarita demonstration. The recipes for the guacamole and margarita (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are still available on the (now closed) registration page, here.

Next month, NLD is proud to announce that we will be hosting our 3rd Annual Trivia Night on June 26, 2020 from 5 p.m.-7p.m.! Although this year is going to be a bit different, since we will be meeting virtually, it should be super fun time. We’ll have two rounds of trivia – the first from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. and the second from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Join for one or join for both, we’re just excited to see you!

Got an idea for a virtual meet up? We’d love to hear from you! We’re on the lookout for creative ways we can come together as a community safely.  Please send your ideas to either Stephanie Atkinson (steph.m.atkinson [at] gmail.com) or me (sandlerstephanie [at] gmail.com). Who knows, next month’s meetup theme could be thanks to you!

Also, if you’ve made it through Netflix’s entire catalogue, you may want to watch (or rewatch) many of the SDCBA’s FREE webinars that are included with your membership. There are tons of webinars available that will help you grow or improve your practice. Just last week SDCBA launched its “Marketing May” series that focused on marketing your practice in a down economy. Topics ranged from creating a brand, social media marketing, how to tell YOUR legal-career story, and more. I attended every session and the information I learned was worth way more than the cost of my membership. Those webinars can be found here.

As always, the SDCBA and NLD are here for you. Make sure you’re following us on Facebook! You can always find the latest and greatest about what the Bar is offering there.

                                                                                                Best,

                                                                                                Stephanie Sandler
