It has been my privilege and honor to produce For The Record as your editor-in-chief these past two years. This publication is uniquely founded on being created by new lawyers for new lawyers. Together, we have created more than 150 articles over the past two years tailored specifically to the needs, likes, and interests of our community. If you missed any past editions, you can visit our full archive

I am so proud of the content we have created, the knowledge we have shared, and the diversity we have showcased in these 24 editions. Our NLD Member Spotlight column has featured outstanding rising lawyers from various backgrounds, perspectives, and practice areas. Through our Tips from The Bench and Bar columns, we have been able to learn wisdom from judges and lawyers who have generously donated their time to share their insights. We have also been able to discuss current and important issues such as Supreme Court politics and restriction of access to the legal system.

The current edition includes Tips From The Bar featuring Lara Worm, who pivoted from being a prosecutor to owning her own local cidery business. Another former prosecutor, Judge Daniel Goldstein shares his wisdom from more than 30 years total as an attorney including 20 years as a judge. You can also learn more about linguistics and legal interpretation in an article by Thomas Livingston, one of the nominees for this year’s Best Article Awards. Voting opens today – award winners will be announced at NLD’s Ugly Holiday Sweater Mixer on December 15 at The Lost Abbey. RSVP for the event and place your vote today!

For the record, none of this would be possible without the time and talent of many NLD members and supporters. Thank you to the SDCBA Board of Directors and the NLD Executive Committee for their support of this publication. I would like to especially thank Savanah Tiffany, Ron Marcus, and the SDCBA staff for their hard work and talent to make this newsletter publication-ready each month. A huge thank you also to Elijah Gaglio, Stephanie Germani, and the For The Record subcommittee for their excellent contributions.

Lastly, thank you to you, the readers, for being the reason that the NLD exists and for reading the articles that we produce. It has been a true honor to serve as your editor, and I’m very excited for the progress that we as a community will continue to make.

With much appreciation,

Sara Gold
