Update to Members —Physically Closed, but Finding Reasons to Celebrate

Dear Members,

Last week, we were relieved that San Diego County moved back into the “red tier” in California’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy.” While some additional activities can reopen, the State advises people in red tier counties continue to work remotely when possible. Thus, the San Diego County Bar Association will continue to keep our physical space closed for the protection of our staff and members.

Despite the closure of our physical space, we continue to celebrate our members and commemorate important milestones. On Wednesday, September 30 at noon, we are hosting our Annual Awards Ceremony and Celebration of Community Service where will recognize nine honorees for their incomparable service to our community, hear welcome remarks from Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins, and receive a proclamation from San Diego City Council President Georgette Gomez declaring September 30 as “San Diego County Bar Association Law Day.”

And, on Wednesday October 7th at 5:15 p.m., we will present our annual Dialogue on Diversity event. This year, we mark the 150th anniversary of the 15th Amendment and the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment with our Panel Program and Town Hall Dialogue called “Right to Vote! History of Voting Rights, Legal Challenges, and Current Concerns.”

As you know, the SDCBA’s mission is “to connect lawyers and support their success and fulfillment.” We are inspired by the level of member engagement with SDCBA programming, events, and content. In the first nine months of this year, 1200 more members registered for SDCBA events than in all of 2019! We also are seeing increased digital readership of our bi-monthly magazine SD Lawyer, and more of you are engaging with us on social media channels, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Stay tuned for additional relevant programming and opportunities to engage with other members before year-end.

We wish good health for you, your family, your colleagues, and your friends. Thank you for your continued support. And if you have feedback for us, please use the new Suggestion Box, which you can find on our homepage or here.
