On Wednesday evening, help us kick off the year by welcoming law students and legal organizations at our signature Law Student Welcome Reception and Legal Community Open House. A variety of SDCBA Sections and Committees, along with the New Lawyers Division, will be highlighting their plans for the year and ways to get engaged. We also will host leaders of numerous specialty bar associations to showcase their organizations and ways to get involved. Click here to register.
Over the past several years, the SDCBA Board has made it a strategic priority to bring leadership training and opportunities to our membership. In 2019, we launched our Leadership Speaker Series with two highly informative sessions about getting appointed to government Boards & Commissions and serving on nonprofit Boards of Directors. We heard from government and nonprofit executives that from their view, lawyers have the skills and talents to be great board members. We agree!
To identify leadership opportunities for our members, we are adding a “Leadership Opportunities” section to this weekly bulletin. Here are a few I’d like to highlight for you. The State’s Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE) — the State Bar Agency that evaluates candidates under consideration for a judicial appointment by the Governor — is seeking applicants. Deadline: March 13, 2020. Click here to learn more and apply here »
And, the City and County of San Diego are always seeking applicants for Boards and Commissions. In those roles, you have a unique opportunity to directly impact the quality of life in our region. Please click here to see current city-level openings and here for county-level openings. And, check out the new Leadership Opportunities section at the end of this email for opportunities in other cities around the County.
We hope you’ll get even more engaged in the SDCBA and the community through these and other opportunities. And, let us know how we can help!
