San Diego lost a legal legend last week when Justice William L. Todd, Jr., a former justice of the California Court of Appeal and a Past President of the San Diego County Bar Association, passed from this life on Thursday, January 30.
Justice Todd was a tremendous leader in our community, having dedicated himself to outstanding work as a lawyer and jurist, as well as the pursuit of the highest standards of professionalism and community service. His guidance of the Bar Association, as well as his service to the American Inns of Court through leadership as President of what is now called the Hon. William L. Todd, Jr. Inn of Court, has and will continue to inspire San Diego lawyers for generations to come.
San Diego County Bar Association Past President, Chris Todd, Justice Todd’s son, conveyed this message from the family: “Paula, Tracy, Kathy, and Chris Todd and their respective families, are grateful for the life of Hon. William L. Todd, Jr., which ended early this morning. The family has been blessed by his leadership and love. Justice Todd passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, in his own home.”
Services will be held on February 13, 2020 at 2 p.m. at La Jolla United Methodist Church at 6063 La Jolla Boulevard. We encourage you to take this moment to remember Justice Todd by watching his Legends of the Bar here and to read more about his life and legacy in The San Diego Union-Tribune obituary.
In honor of the contributions of Justice Todd, I thank you for everything you do for our legal community.
