From Executive Director Jill Epstein and President Johanna Schiavoni
Dear Members,
As promised, we are providing an update on the SDCBA’s response to the impact of coronavirus. We continue to prioritize the health and safety of our members and staff, while also playing a constructive role in supporting local health officials and government leaders as they work to contain the virus.
The SDCBA Bar Center will remain closed through at least April 3. All in-person events and meetings during this time – both at the Bar Center and off-site – have been re-scheduled as webinars or conference calls, or postponed or canceled. Please check our calendar for details for each event. We will re-evaluate later this month whether we are able to host events after April 3, as planned. In case we can resume normal programming at that point, there are a number of events already on our calendar for April and May, which you can find here.
Effective Monday, March 16, we are converting the staff to a virtual office and will maintain our normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. We have enabled each department to seamlessly provide services remotely, with only essential management team members going on-site twice each week to ensure the continuity of operations.
To help our members navigate remote and mobile work environments, our Member Technology Officer, Adriana Linares, will be making available special programming over the next several weeks.
TODAY: March 13, 2:00-4:00 p.m. – Pop-Up Q&A with Member Technology Officer Adriana Linares – a Zoom chat session where Adriana will answer member questions about remote working and mobile tech options. No registration is needed – click here for the meeting link and join in at any point.
Tuesday, March 17, 12:00-1:00 p.m. – “Hosting and Running Remote Meetings” – a webinar focused on how to make the most of affordable and efficient online meeting tools like Zoom, GoToMeeting, Skype, and Google Hangouts. This webinar is free to SDCBA members, click here to register.
For additional resources on this emerging situation and best practices to safeguard your health and that of others, the CDC has up-to-date information, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has helpful guidance for employers, and locally, the County of San Diego has set up a new website: sandiegocounty.gov/coronavirus. We are committed to doing our part in preventing the spread of the virus and supporting the health and safety of our members, our staff, and our communities. Thank you for your support and please let us know if we can assist you during this time.
