Message From the Co-Editor in Chief
Hello! My name is Lillian (Lilly) Glenister and I am currently the Co-Editor in Chief of the New Lawyer Division’s (“NLD”) monthly newsletter, For the Record. I want to thank each of our readers for their continued support, as well as our NLD and San Diego County Bar Association members who have contributed amazing content this year.
This is my first year as a Member-At-Large with the NLD, and it has been such a wonderful experience getting more involved in our San Diego legal community through For the Record. A little about me, I am currently in my third-year clerking for a federal judge at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and will transition to private practice later this year. To both new lawyers and law students alike, I cannot recommend judicial externships and post-law school judicial clerkships enough. The learning experience of researching and writing proposed orders for a judge’s review is invaluable. In addition, I do not think you can get better mentorship than from the judge(s) you work for as a new attorney.
Speaking of new attorneys, earlier this month on June 4, 2024, the SDCBA hosted its New Attorney Swearing-In Ceremony at the San Diego Superior Court for recent bar-passers. Attendees heard inspiring words from many of our local judges. On behalf of the NLD, congratulations to the newest members of the State Bar of California! We hope to meet you all at one of our upcoming events.
Coming up soon, the NLD is co-presenting the Say Hello to Summer Law Networking Event at Karl Strauss Brewing in Sorrento Valley on July 11, 2024. This event is free to SDCBA members and will feature drinks, appetizers, and great company! Be sure to register here.
In addition, be on the lookout for more information regarding the SDCBA’s Summer Social and NLD Signature Event, which will take place on August 1, 2024, at Margaritaville. There will be food, drinks, entertainment, and even a few surprises.
If you are interested in contributing to For the Record, please feel free to reach out to myself or Linda Nelte (Co-Editor in Chief) by clicking here. If you have your own topic to write on, or need one, we would be happy to help include you in an upcoming edition of For the Record!
Thank you again for taking the time to read For the Record, and we hope to see you soon!
