Message from the Co-Editor in Chief

By Lillian Glenister, Esq.
Judicial Law Clerk at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California

Happy August, New Lawyer Division members! I hope you are having a great summer so far. As Co-Editor in Chief of For the Record, I want to thank you for reading and your continued support of our publication.

The New Lawyer Division started this month with a bang with the San Diego County Bar Association’s Summer Social and NLD Signature Event. SDCBA and NLD members gathered on August 1 at the rooftop deck of the Margaritaville Hotel in the Gaslamp for delicious food, drinks, and entertainment. It was great meeting new members and networking while also reconnecting with our Board Members and long-time supporters. Thank you to the sponsors of our event, including de Castro, P.C., Judicate West, California Bank & Trust, JAMS, Klinedinst PC, Lab Coat Marketing, SDCBA Lawyer Referral Service, Ruby, Torrey Pines Bank, Berger & Williams LLP, David Fletes, Procopio, and SMBC MANUBANK.

A couple of other events to look forward to this year include the 2024 Law Student Welcome Reception and the SDCBA’s 125th Celebration Event, which will both take place on September 12, 2024. Free for law students and judges, the Welcome Reception aims to offer current and new law students an opportunity to connect with the local legal community early on in their careers. Please register here. Immediately following the Welcome Reception, please join NLD and the SDCBA in celebrating an astonishing 125 years serving the legal community in San Diego. These events will also mark the grand opening of the new Bar Center facility in downtown San Diego at 330 A Street. The 125th Celebration Event is free for law students and judges, $30 for SDCBA members, and $60 for non-members. You can register here. *Please note that both events require separate registration.

Before the year is over, NLD is also planning on hosting a hike with the SDCBA’s Wellness Committee, which will likely take place in October. Stay tuned for more information.

As always, please feel free to reach out here if you are interested in getting more involved with NLD or if you’d like to contribute to For the Record. Thank you again, and I hope to see you at the SDCBA’s upcoming events next month!
