Message from the Vice Chair

Message from the Vice Chair

By Lilly Glenister
Associate Attorney at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP

Happy February New Lawyer Division Members! My name is Lilly Glenister and I am humbled to be serving this year as the Vice Chair of the San Diego County Bar Association’s New Lawyer Division.

Last year, I served my first year as a Member-At-Large with the NLD, where I was a co-editor of our newsletter, For the Record. Although my role on the NLD has now broadened, I am still working with our NLD team as an editor of our newsletter, with hopes of passing on the gauntlet to another team member next year.

2024 was a year of transition for many people, myself included. After serving as a federal judicial law clerk for three years following my law school graduation, I joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as an associate in October 2024. This change has been very exciting for me—and a bit nerve wracking—as this is my first time ever working in private practice (I only did government internships in law school). Although as a new associate I feel like I am entering uncharted waters a lot of the time, I am enjoying each day’s learning opportunities and am thrilled for the future.

As Vice Chair of NLD, I hope to continue helping put on stellar events for our community of new lawyers in San Diego, while also assisting with content for our newsletter. In this issue of For the Record, you will read a great recap of one of our recent community service events, an interview with San Diego Superior Court Judge Judy Bae, and the first article in our new column, “Legal Life: The Trials, Tribulations, and Triumphs of the Everyday Attorney.”

Please keep an eye out for email announcements from the NLD for future CLE and networking events. We hope to meet you soon!

And as always, if you are interested in contributing to For the Record, please feel free to reach out to myself or any of our board members by clicking here. If you have your own topic to write on, or need one, we would be happy to help include you in an upcoming edition of For the Record!
