Message from the Vice Chair: Sunny Days and Legal Waves
Happy Summer, New Lawyer Division colleagues!
As we embrace the vibrant energy of summer, I hope this message finds you all thriving both professionally and personally. While we navigate our busy schedules, let’s not forget to soak up the beautiful San Diego sun and enjoy the multitude of activities our city has to offer. Whether it’s hitting up your favorite concert or simply taking a stroll on the beach, I encourage each of you to carve out some time for yourself this season.
I am thrilled to highlight NLD’s largest and most exciting event of the year:
2024 SDCBA/NLD Summer Social: IT’S 5 O’CLOCK SOMEWHERE
Date: Thursday, August 1, 2024
Time: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Mark your calendars for an evening of networking, socializing, and fun. This event is perfect for making new connections and catching up with fellow new lawyers in a relaxed, enjoyable setting. You can find more details about this event and other upcoming events on the SDCBA calendar.
I also want to give a huge shoutout to our incredible New Lawyer Division team. Our amazing Chair, Elijah Gaglio, has been an absolute rock star, representing our section at meetings, guiding us through the intricacies of the SDCBA, and helping each of our division members thrive in their roles to better serve the community. Elijah often doesn’t get enough credit for all the behind-the-scenes work he does, which is crucial for our success. His leadership has been nothing short of inspiring.
Lillian Glenister and Linda Nelte have been phenomenal in running our For The Record publication. The amount of time and energy they pour into thinking about relevant topics, selecting the right writers, and ensuring the publication gets out on time is truly remarkable. Their dedication ensures that our members are always informed and engaged with high-quality, insightful content.
Dani Glazer and Shubhra Sharma, our Community Outreach Co-Chairs, have done an outstanding job connecting with community organizations and creating opportunities for us lawyers to give back. Their efforts ensure that our division remains active and impactful in the broader community.
Matthew Spolsky, our Social Events Chair, has one of the coolest jobs, in my opinion, because he gets to plan all the fun events that bring our legal community together and allow us to unwind. His knack for creating enjoyable and memorable experiences helps foster camaraderie and strengthens our network in the most enjoyable ways.
Last but not least, Catharine McGlynn, our CLE & Non-CLE Programming Chair, has been instrumental in coordinating our Court Practice Series here in San Diego County. Her dedication to providing high-quality educational opportunities are invaluable to our professional development.
I am honored to be serving with this exceptional team and look forward to seeing what else they have in store for us. Together, we are building a vibrant, supportive, and dynamic community within the New Lawyer Division.
As your Vice Chair, I am looking ahead to my term as Chair of the New Lawyer Division. I am eager to continue growing our division and making it a dynamic, engaging community. To do this, I need your energy, ambition, and innovative ideas. If you’re interested in serving on the board next year or have suggestions for initiatives or events, please reach out to me at claudia@theinnocencecenter.org or connect with me via LinkedIn. Let’s schedule a coffee and chat about how we can work together to make our division even better.
Enjoy the summer, stay inspired, and let’s make this season a memorable one!
