Dear Members,
We hope that heading into the election and holiday season you are well, and the same for your families, friends, colleagues, and clients.
As you likely are well aware, San Diego County continues to teeter on the edge of the most restrictive COVID-19 tier because of the adjusted case rate. Given our ongoing commitment to protecting our members and staff, and the continuing public health guidance for remote work where possible, we have decided to keep the physical space of the SDCBA closed for the remainder of the year.
As we have done since March, our staff, Board, and volunteers will continue to deliver on the value of belonging to the SDCBA. In addition to our robust calendar of CLE and technology programming, we are hosting fun and meaningful ways to connect with other members, including the New Lawyer Division Face-Mask-erade Party (tonight at 5:30 p.m.), Exchange on Equity Roundtable: Wellness and Anti-Racism (November 16), and Holidays Around the World (November 18 — submit your recipes for our e-cookbook here!)
We also look forward to the Annual Membership Meeting (December 3), where we will look back at 2020 and look ahead to what is in store for our members in 2021.
And, as we do every December, we will welcome the new Board of Directors at Stepping Up to the Bar (December 11 at 5:30 p.m.). This year, the celebration and installation will be done 2020-style…on Zoom!
We also invite you to revisit special programs and events we’ve recorded and made available for you to enjoy right from the SDCBA website:
- 2020 Service Awards event, celebrating the theme “Your Vote, Your Voice, Our Democracy: The 19th Amendment at 100” and honoring deserving students, attorneys, and judges in our community
- Dialogue on Diversity — Right to Vote! History of Voting Rights, Legal Challenges, and Current Concerns (free 1.5 hours self study CLE credit available)
- Leadership Speaker Series program: Boards and Commissions at the County and Surrounding Cities: How to Get Appointed and Why Serve
- Bench Bar Media Event 2020 — Meeting this Moment: How the Bench, Bar, and Media Are Addressing the Intersection of COVID-19 and the Social Justice Movement
And, of course, you have access to all of our past webinars about utilizing technology and managing your law practice, and our library of previous CLE programs, too.
We invite you to renew your membership at the 2020 rate (and add an all-access CLE pass for just $100).
We hope our monthly communications about the status of the SDCBA office and Bar Center have been helpful and informative. We look forward to seeing all of you again at some point at the Bar Center and at in-person SDCBA events. Until then, take good care and be well.
